Rep. Linda Sanchez, D-Norwalk, has been named acting head of the U.S. delegation to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Parliamentary Assembly.
“This is a pivotal moment, as we face unprecedented challenges from global pandemics to great power competitions, Sanchez said. “The strength of the Alliance lies in a shared belief in democratic principles, and in these tough moments, we must each re-commit to upholding this foundation.”
NATO PA is the representative body providing a link between NATO and the legislatures of NATO nations.
The group fosters relationships between governments on transatlantic security issues. It is comprised of more than 269 delegates from the 30 NATO member countries as well as delegates from 11 associate countries, four Mediterranean associate countries and eight parliamentary observer delegations.
